Feature: The Q logo is positioned in the top left hand corner of the
page, as this is where the eye usually starts on a page. The font style is the
usual Q logo but the size is unusually small and not overpowering compared to
the size of the logo that appears on the front page. The colour of the logo is
the same as it usually is but seems to pop out on this particular page as the
rest of the text is mainly black and the background colour is white.
Necessary information: The date is
featured at the top right corner of the page with the issue number appearing
directly after the Q logo in the to left hand corner. These appear at the top
of the page so they are easily found and people can recognise if the
issue they are looking at is the latest issue or not.
Text/Font: The text that appears on the contents page is simplistic and
there isn’t very much of it. The two main subheadings ‘Features’ and ‘Every
month’ help to define articles that appear in the issue; what is only appearing
in the issue and what is featured in every issue. All of the text appears on
the left hand side of the page and seems to bend around the photo excluding the
‘The Lennon issue’ section of text. The page numbers appear numerically within
their sections. The Font used is sans to help add to the simplistic look of the
page and is largely black to contrast with the white background.
Images: There is only one image that largely takes up the page.
This image of James Blunt appears on the left hand side and shows a
direct mode of address to the audience, which draws them in. This image isn’t
anchored but appears to almost be outlined in black or dark colours. This gives
a good contrast to the white background and as the image is the main focus on
the page.
Composition: The face of the artist is prominent on the contents page with
a direct mode of address as the artist’s eyes are in sharp focus with the edge
of the image slightly blurry. The image appears almost pushed off to the left
hand side, as some of the head is cropped off, as if to make room for the list
of contents within the magazine.
Colour: The colours used for the text are black, white and red
fitting in with the colour scheme of the rest of the magazine and creating
synergy. The colours for the image are naturalistic and warm giving the image a
down to earth feel where we can identify with the artist. This also could infer
the theme or feel of the artists music.
